To consider

From 1st January 2023, a tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted. From March to October, there are 2 to 4 ferries to Tioman Island from Mersing. The schedule is only available 1 month in advance.
During the monsoon season, ferry operations may be cancelled by the Marine Department due to poor weather conditions.

Wonderful

Amazing beach, one of the best spot for snorkelling Breakfast was included and totally worth We tried the dinner buffet too and ate a la carte. The food was varied and nice We did a snorkelling tour with Paya and I would do it again Nice mountain view from our room Quiet village

I would have wanted to stay longer! Do not suggest the trekking from Paya to Tekek but do recommend the one to Genting

Overall, was a memorable & lovely trip/sta... looking forward to a repeat soon :))

1. the beach is superb - our room was facing the beach- Absolutely lovely & clean. 2. Appreciated the warmth of the staff - from check-in/out, to F&B and housekeeping. All were well mannered & willng to help/accomodate. 3. Also appreciated the proximity to the ferry terminal & stalls. 4. Buffet dinner was above acceptable, while breakfast was reasonably good for a venue of such. Even had simple & customized vegetarian food options - kudos to the kitchen staff.

1. The room toilet cleanliness must be improved - especially the walls :( 2. Mattresses can be inspected for change 3. Didnt appreciate the fact that only 1 room card was given for a quad occupancy room - we had to pay for an extra card which was not refundable

Overall pleasant stay.

ATV was great. Snorkelling & boat tour was fun. Ferry ride from Mersing to Tioman was horrendous because of bad weather and choppy waters. The beaches at Tioman are fantastic with clear waters and marine life was even more fantastic. Most resorts like this are more intended for those looking for adventure vs luxurious, all-inclusive type beach vacations.

Having been so accustomed to 5-star resorts in Mexico and Aruba, we were taken aback by how very basic many things were at this resort, and the lack of amenities we take for granted. The chalet was also rather dated and not the cleanest.

Paradise Island!

Fabulous location, right on the beach. Great bar overlooking the beach. Good, reasonably priced food. Staff were so helpful. Plenty of reasonably price trips from the resort. Beach is beautiful, waters are shallow and safe for children. Perfect place to holiday with children.

Accommodation is a little tired. Not much storage space for luggage.

Busy little place. Mosquitoes were troublesome.

Being right on the beach.

Leaky pipes leading to and from the bathroom. Having no roof on the shower meant mosquitoes got in (as well as gap under the door). Singing throughout dinner meant conversation was difficult.

A value for money activity resort with many coral diving and snorkelling sites within reach by speed boat.

It is a children friendly diving and snorkelling resort with lots of activities available. The restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices.

Some facilities in the room are a bit old.

Snorkeling in front of the hotel is fabulous, just like diving with the in-house dive masters of Divers Cove.

The resort and the village of Paya were very crowded with many tourists.

No wifi in room

The staff are friendly, and quite clean

When we checked in, we were told no wifi in the room and staff explained that ‘there were something wrong with the wifi’ but yet the hotel information mentioned there is wifi provided. Giving benefit of doubt that it only happened during our period of stay, they asked us to use wifi in restaurant or reception area, but the problem is, we cannot even use the wifi there on most of the time. If management decide to use this strategy to not providing wifi then at least have a area that provides good wifi

Tropical life style run-down resort

The staff was kind, but somewhat unclear. We got an upgrade of our room to the superior chalet nearby the beach, with separate shower and balcony, due to the maintenance at the chalets at the ponds.

The area was run down, and there was no WiFi available at all (both the free resort WiFi and the payed one). The gentleman at the activity bar didn’t speak English well, but we could get what we wanted with pointing at the pictures. We did however lost our sunglasses, and when we asked for the lost-and-found (it took a while), he came back with a pair of rental swim goggles.

We very much enjoyed our stay here as a treat for a couple backpacking

We stayed in a room by the pool with two double beds. Pool closed between 7pm-9am which was good for reduced noise. Really enjoyed buffet breakfast, the swimming pool and the amazing view over a small pond where there was lots of monitor lizards (similar to komodo dragons) and lots of monkeys. Beer was inexpensive as the island is duty free (7MR for 500ml). Staff were friendly and very polite. We absolutely loved snorkeling for a full day going to 4 different spots (90MR each). It was great value for money, however strongly recommended that you invest in your own goggles and snorkel as the hotel ones steamed up constantly, or worse, filled up with sea water. We also enjoyed the Crystal kayak to ease us in to being in the sea (80MR for 2people). The activities were very good value for money.

Our bathroom was unfortunately really smelly- not sure if it was drains or generally not clean. We ordered food on a special occasion (as it is more pricey than other places nearby) and our squid was disappointing as it was very overcooked. If you are paying more you expect the food to be better. The only one other thing was; having one or two water cooler stations would have been good to reduce the plastic consumption in Paya. There was small containers of lemon water at the reception but only with small glasses next to it. Somewhere to fill up our own bottles is surely better for the environment we are trying to protect in Tioman.

Beautiful setting ie Tioman Island is beautiful. Great activities available though all at extra cost). There are so many things that could uplift the experience for example providing information about the activities, the area and the animals, the fish one sees when snorkeling in a folder in room.

1. There no beach towels - this should be a given at a beach resort 2. Many of the staff are very miserable. For example the resort advertised a 3pm walk to the rock pools - nobody turned up to meeting point and when we spoke to activities desk a lady came who basically was very disinterested and clearly unimpressed that she had been told to walk us to the pools. Why not just signpost it and provide a map as we could have found it ourselves given the right information. 3. Very limited space around the pool and only 8 sun loungers for whole resort. 4. Worst breakfast we have ever had - limited choice and very poor quality 5. Advertised as free WiFi in all areas - there is practically no WiFi - even if you pay for it. Staff said it was governments fault. Don’t advertise that it is there if it is not. 6. The room doors do not open easily - this is a fire hazard when trying to leave the room. 7. TV reception and channel choice awful 8. Regular powercuts - why no generator? 9. A very bad smell in an area next to the dining area

Confortable resort with nice staff

The staff was really nice. The room was in front of the beach, was perfect.

The quality of the breakfast can be improve and more continental options. WiFi only works in the restaurant and lobby, and it wasn’t really good. The payable WiFi didn’t work in our room.

Over priced with unhelpful staff

The location in itself was right by the beach which was nice.

The room was extremely expensive for what we got. The staff were rude and really unhelpful, particularly after an overnight journey and an early boat - we asked for two towels to use in the pool while we waited for our room and were told that room service were too busy to help. Breakfast ran out of most things if you didn’t arrive before 8.30. Room was tired and the toilet leaked. It wasn’t a resort that catered well to western travellers.

Good stay but the nature is being polluted by human intervension

Paya beach is one of the best spot on the island. but recently the island itself is bit deprived of fishes.

This is my 4th time here in last 3 years and a lot of corals have been dead. More than tourist it should be the overall temperature of the ocean and stuff. A good swim but lesser corals and fishes.
